PHOENIX (AP) -- On Semiconductor Corp., which makes power and data management semiconductors, said Tuesday its third-quarter earnings fell about 17 percent as manufacturing services revenue declined. On Semiconductor shares sank $2.18, or 17.9 percent, to $10.01 in morning trading. The company earned $63.8 million, or 20 cents per share, compared with $76.8 million, or 23 cents per share, in the year-ago quarter. On Semiconductor's revenue declined to $402.9 million from $420.9 million in the same quarter last year. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expected earnings of 22 cents per share on revenue of $398.8 million. On Semiconductor said manufacturing services revenue declined by $26.9 million to $21.8 million during the period. Its product services revenue rose $8.9 million to $381.1 million, aided by its consumer electronics and computing end markets. Meanwhile, operating expenses grew year-over-year to $82.4 million from $72.2 million. On Semiconductor added that on a mix-adjusted basis, its average selling prices declined 2 percent to 3 percent from the second quarter, though its total gross margin came in at 38.6 percent -- up 30 basis points from the second quarter.
