NASHUA, N.H. (AP) -- Robert Howard, the founder of icad Inc., plans to retire on Thursday, the maker of medical film digitizers for mammography images said Tuesday. The company said Howard was retiring to spend more time on personal and philanthropic activities. Howard, 84, served as chairman since founding the company in 1984, and was its chief executive from 1984 to 1993. Prior to icad, Howard founded and served as president and chairman of Centronics Data Computer Corp., a maker of computer printers, from 1969 to 1980. Shares of icad fell 7 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $2.73 in morning trading.
