EATONTOWN, N.J. (AP) -- Opnext Inc., which makes optical-based technologies for communications and data transmission, said Tuesday it has appointed Gilles Bouchard, 47, as chief operating officer, effective Thursday. Bouchard is former executive vice president of global operations for Hewlett Packard. Opnext shares rose 7 cents to $13.50 in morning trading.
